ers, County Auditor,
The first page of this issue con
tains an interesting account of the
State Fair.
The citizens of Greenbriar and
the vicinity had a meeting on Sat
urday to take stops to build a
Methodist house of worship in that
neighborhood. It is hoped that
this undertaking can be pushed to a
speedy completion.
Dr. Robertson had in charge, on
Thursday morning, twenty yountg
ladies, all bound for the Fair. The
embarkation of suih a bovy caused
great interest, and one of the pas
sengers was quite solicitous to
know if anybody was left behind.
The whole party returned safely
after a delightful trip.
Almost all Winnsboro and a large
part of Fairfield went to the Fair
last week. Unfortunately our Eub
scribers wantod all their money to
carry themselves down, so THE
NEws AND HERALD concluded to stay
at home. If they will juso call in
and settle up so as to givo us a
good Christmas frolic, we'll call
things square.
JOURNALISTI.-Mr. W. C. Bonet,
of Abbeville, has become editor and
joint proprietor of the Abbevide
.Press and ./lanner. This is now
one of the best weeklies in the
State, and we prodict that it will
not suffer in its now hands. Of
course Wilson will still furnish his
spoialties.
The Batesburg Moitor is a new
paper started by Mr. E WN. Me
Lenna. It gives promise of a sue
ceossful future, especially whon
Batesburg becomes the county seat
of the new county of Butler.
