They are unusually largo and good. The treasurer's oflico has been crowded for the past few days. The time expires on Wednesday. Cameron met with a serious accident on Saturday afternoon. While riding in his buggy, his horses took fright and ran away. The Colonel was thrown violently out, and had an arm fractured by the fall. We are pleased to leabrn that his injury, though painful, is not serious. The buggy was considrably damaged. REsoLrrION.-At a meeting held by the Jenkinsville Democratic Club on Saturday evening last, the fol lowing resolution was unanimously adopted: Recsolued, That Israel Byrd be requested to resign the position of Sonator from Fairfield county, in order that a man can be elected, who will represent the interests of the citizens of the county. A negro man recently arrived at Ridgeway from Georgia has been troubled with an eye for a number of years, and has been under medi cal treatment for it. A ifQy days since the eye itched him, and he scratched it ; when, to his amaze ment, ab splinter p)opped out. This was the cause of the trouble. How it got there, how it remained there so long, and why it came out as it did, are questions that the splinter or the darkey must answer. We pass. South Carolina Monument Association Restaurant. Through the courtesy of the Executive Committee of the South Carolina Agricultural and Mechani cal Society, there will be a restau. rant on the grounds of the Society during fair week under the auspices of the South Carolina Monument Association. The monu mont is now finished and will be orected as soon as the comparative ly small sum due the architect shall be collected. It is earnestly hoped that every daughter of the State will avail herself of this opportimity of being a participant in the noble work of rearing a memorial tribute to the honored dead of South Carolina.
