The culture of sorghum is being revived. Mr. Butler Pettigrew has made a largo quantity of syrup for himself and his neighbors. Colored people report that two or three dogs have gone mad on uppor Little River recently. One is said to have gnawed and lacerated his own forelegs before he was killed. No person was bitten. "Our House," the popular res taurant kept by Mr. Jno. D. McCar loy, will be opened for the season to-morrow. Fresh oysters, pre pared in every style, may be had on Saturday. There was a mistake in the county treasurer's notice, published in the last issue of THE NEWs AND HERALD. The penalty for non -payment of taxes at the proper timo is fifteen per cent., and not twenty, as stated in the advertisement. The mistohie was ours, and. not the t reasuer's. NEW ADvER TIsEMENT.-O. FAIRFIELJD LIGHT DRAGooNs.-Thle organization heretofore known as the "Fairfield Sabre Club" has been reorganized, under the name of the "Fairfield Light Dragoons," with the following officers : Captain--T.
