vorsary on Thursday last. Thero wer
over forty men in ranks. Tho ine
wore black cloth suits, and wit)
their broach-loading rifles, nov

flying, presented a very handsomi
appearance. Formed in town, th
corps marched in columns of four
to the beautiful spring on the lan
of Dr. Jno. D. Palor, there to en
gage ill targot practice. Tho targe
was twenty-four inches in circum
ference. Each man was allowe,
three shots. The judges wore Col
H. C. Davis, B. E. Elkin and IR. C
Lamar. They awarded the fir.
prize to Capt. R. S. Dcsp-ortes, an

latter being for the worst shot o
the board. The judges, in makin
their report, mentioned that Mr. I
