AFAMILY EUNIgN.--On Tuosday
the 21st instant, Mrs. Rachel
McMeastor celebrated her eighty
fourth birthday. A rounion Qf her
descendant: was )aId in honor of
the event. There woro present
seventy personls ill different dogrees
of kindr(A, thirteen livi:g descen
dants benig absent. They repro
sented the well known and honored
lames of MCMaster, Elliott, Thomp
son, Ruff, Rosborough and Cum
imings. 2 .McIastor-'s original fami
ly consisted of tenl ehildren, five of
whom are living--Dr. J. R. MeMas
ter, Col. F. W. McMAster, Mr. G.
H. McMaster, Mr. I. N. McMast%r
and Mrs. 0. R. Thompson. She
has forty-four grand children,
twelve great grand children, soven
children in law, three grand children
in law and twelve step grand chil
dren-a total of eighty-.ight.
Mr. MeMaster still preserves great
vitality, and we trust her life will
be spared for years to coio, in this
community of which she has so long
boon a beloved and valuable mm
bor.
Boar Crook Hampton Democratic Club.
A special mooting of this club was
called on Saturday, August 18th,
President E 1. Heins in the chair.
Thero was a. full attendance.
Se-eral now members wero enrolled.
The meeting was addressed by
Messrs. Heins, ,Crunipton, Grier,
Kennedy, Duke, Flannigan, Nelson.
Perry and others. A committoo
consisting of Messrs. Henry Heins,
Lewis Sharpo and W. L. Grier, was
appointed to (Iraft rosolutions. They
reported the following, which were
unanimously adopted :
RJeiolned-1st, That we condemn
the "Citizens' Ticket" as one arrayed
against the true cause of Domocra
cy, and that we will support the
DemocraCic ticket in a body.
2nd. That those resolutions he
published in THE NEwS AND J-ERALD.
A commnitteo wvas appointed to
draft a petition for the establish
meont of an elcetion p)recinct
in school district no. 6. To -
day being tho' anniversary
of the club, the former officers were
unanimously re-elected for one year.
After thanks to the oflicials, who
hoped that the club would always
p rsevero and keep intact its form-~
e( reputation, the club adjourned to
meet ag.iin on Saturday, the first
day of September.
