Business is dull, dull, dull No.

We have received information of

Fears are entertained by some for
the growing crops, but . ian ex..

mes the opinion that no harm is yet
done. He thinks that with. good

b~e fine crops both of .cottori and
corn. We sincerely hope he is cor

The railroad depot at Strother
was consumed by fire a few nights
ago. The agent, Mr. Holland, who
lived, with his wife, in an adjoining
room,, lost . e'verything-the ocou%
pants barely escaping with their
lives. A considerqblo qltantib$' of
corn and bacon, stored in the depot,
was consumed. There seems no
doubt that the fire was incendiary.

I announce myself as a candidate for
the office of Clerk of tlh Court for Fair
7lold county. The following are my
reasons for socking the offi.e: I have a
largo family to support, and children to
educate by my own efforts. I lost an arm
in the service of my country, and the
office would at least be a great help to a
man in my situation. So if no other
man offers, whose claims are better, and
you will eleeL me I promise to fill the
office honestly, and to the best of my
Ability.

LIVE R
NUOW is the season when the Liver be
comies torpid, refuses to do its share
of work, and causes distress to the human
system. Take Simmons' Hopatic Coin
pound or Liver Cure and all will be well.
The old adage, "Prevention is Better
than Cure," cannot be more practically
illustrated than now when the sickness
usual at this season can be prevented by
the use of SIMMONS' HEPATIC COM
POUND, wvhich, by removing the bile,
cleansing the stomach and boweols and
p~urifying the blood, enables the syste a
to reject ma.arial poisons and gives tone
and strength to the whole body. SIM
MONS' H EPA TIC COMPOUND is all
Vegetable, perfectly harmless and won
derfully effective; can be used at all times
and at all ages, and (toes not interfere

renewed vigor. It is simpler, bettor and
cheaper than any similar preparation
ever offered. For sale by
