The lodge of the Knights of Hon
or at this place has received several
new neoiemr, and is now more
flourishing than ever.
Prince Martin and Israel Byrd
will feel strangely, with Gaillard and
.Irice in the House. They aro quite
unaccustomed to such company.
Over four hundred colored men
voted with the Democrats at the
recent election. They should be
protected, encouraged and preferred
on all occasions and in every way
possiblo.
The taxpaying Democracy of Fair
field are no longer unrepresented
in the law-making branch of the
State government. And they will
not be unrepresented any more
forever!
As will bo seen from their card
pubiished in r.nother column, Drs.
Jno. C. Mobley and 11. B. Hanahan
have formed a copartnership for the
practice of medicine and surgery in
Winnsboro and the surrounding
country.
The election in Chester resulted
in a Democratic victory by fully one
thousand ilmajority. Gen. W. A.
Walker, the Senator elect, will pro
ceed at once to Columbia and take
his seat.
The one vote received by Henry
Johnson iat Jenkinsville, and the
only one given atgaiwt the Denm
cratic nlomIinees. is said to hav.h.en
cast by Mi ose Carter, a notorious
dead-boat residing in that section
of tihe county.
A negro calling himself John
Thomas Addison Smith wvas arrest
ed and lodged in the guardhouse on
Tuesday night, charged with break
ing into andi rob~bing the store of
Mr. T. 0. Patrick at Whinto Oak.
Hie had on his person a gold watch
boliev'ed to 1h0 the pl~roer of that
gentleman, together with a consid
erab~le stun of money. H-I hals been

evening, Prof. J. L. Jones, the prin
cipal of the College, will deliver an
address at the 'T'hespian Hall, on
tho suibjoet of female education.
At the close of the lecture, therc
will be an exhibition in calisthenics
by the pupils. The exercises will

public are invited to attend.
