FASHION NOTES.
"To be, or not to be," is the ques
tion with regard to crinoline.
Torchon is the name of the now
lace used on bonnets, dresses and
parasols.
For ordinary heavy goods the
"Princess polonaise" will, be the i
prevailing style.
Black eamel's hair polonaises are

colors apt s.
Lace has superseded ribbon, in a
great measure, for hat trimming.
Narrow ribbon only is admissible.
In linen collars the Byron is most
fashionable, and of white oily, the
colored cordings of a few months
ago having quite passed by.
Metal buttons, or rose pearl, or
ehell, predominate, the smooth gilt
and steel being the favorites.
There are surp; i ing novelties in
hosiery, both as to elaborate ems~
broider- and unique shades.
The modeofog apring wraps is the
Dolutan~in, e .e eiss variety of
p~atterin, but grays are the prevailing
shades and fringes and galloons the
only trimmings used for spring
garments.
The sleeves of new dresses fit
tighter than over. To laugh in one's
sleeve has now become purely
metaphorical.
In bonnets the Normandy style
will hold its own for the present, r
but the fine Florence braids,.
trimmed with flowers and lace sash
only, will be the mode for summer.
