One of the most complete and ef
fective presentations of East Lynne
which has ever been sent on tour will
be given at the Star Theatre, Satur
day night, December 5th, by Joseph
King’s New York company. The
company, scenic equipment and
accessories are all up to the stand
ard required for an artistic represen
tation of the favorite old drama. The
engagement is for one night only.
East Lynne will be presented at
the Star Theatre, Saturday night,
December 5th, by Joseph King’s ex
cellent company. The American
public today finds greatest delight in
the drama that has a big human note;
that deals with elemental passions
and sorrows and that tells a .gripping
vital story. It is a rare relish. You
know East Lynne contains these ele
ments. How often have you said “1
would like to see it played by a good
company.”
THE FACULTY RECITAL.
Remarks from Dr. Lodge’s Address
in Chapel Tuesday Morning.
The first faculty concert of the sea
son was given in the auditorium at
Limestone College Monday evening.
Of the event Dr. Lee Davis Lodge,
president of the college, said, in an
address before the students Tuesday
morning:
“The recital of Monday evening
given by Director Henry Foote Per
rin was a grand musical triumph. If
ever there was a triumph of merit,
pure and unassisted merit, that of
last evening was such a triumph. 1
am prouder than ever before of Lime
stone College. All round, 1 believe
we have the best department of mu
sic in the State of South Carolina.
The musician of last evening show
ed such wonderful insight into each
masterpiece as to enable us to catch
a glimpse of the artist’s own soul.
The director possesses also a mar
velous power of interpretation, into
which enters an element of originali
ty. The second number on the pro
gramme, Rondo Capriccioso, is one of
Mendelssohn’s exquisite jewels. In
that beautiful number from Rubin
stein. Melody from a Catholic Church
Services, 1 was lost in the grandeur
of one of those magnificent cathedrals
of the Old World, as I listened to the
intonation of the service and the sil
very chiming of the bells.
The waltz numbers from Liszt re
vealed to me the dancers themselves,
so plainly visible were the motion
and color. On the rich brocade of
that music the many delicate lights
and shades of color could be seen.
In the rendition of the Melody for
the left hand, the artist of the evening
displayed the highest artistic finish
of technique.”

Nothing would be a more appropriate gift for the boy
or girl than for you to bring in a dollar or two, deposit
it in their name and give them a Savings Pass Hook. It
would be something every youngster would appreciate
and at the same time teach them money values.
