Smith has resigned as section hand in spinning room at the Ark wright Mills, at Spartanburg. S. C., and accepted a similar position with the Saxon Mills. E. W. Cudd, from Charlotte, now- holds position as spinning overhauler at Whitney, S. C. \ C. L. Sorgee, from Cowpens, S. C., Mfg. Co., is now fixing looms at. the Spartan Mills, Spartanburg. S. C. J. L. Bishop, who has been at the Arcade, S .C., Mills for a few months as boss weaver, has returned to his old post as overseer of weaving at Whitney, S. C. E. L. Johnson, from the Avon Mills at Gastonia, is now running a speeder section at Whitney, S. C. E. A. Pindall is again with the Cow- pens Mfg. Co., Cowpens. S. C . as mas ter mechanic and he had previously been with this concern several years. F. E. Chasteen, from the Ashcraft Mills. Florence, Ala., has succeeded Geo. W. Green as overseer of spin ning. spooling and twisting at the Cherry Cotton Mills. Jack Pounders has succeeded T. A. Miller as second hand in spinning at the Cherrv Cotton Mills, FIorenc%, Ala. W. M. Melton, from the Ashcraft Mills, Florence. Ala., is card grinder with the Cherry Cotton Mills. Henry Rowe, who planned the Elk Mountain bleaehery and has superin tended the running of the same since its organization three years ago, has tendered his resignation, to accept a more lucrative position with the Can non Mills Co., Kannapolis. N. C. W. P. Mooneyham, from Hardin, N (’.. has accepted the position of over seer of spinning in the Kannapolis, Mill. ('. D. Skidmore, formerly of the Hoskins Mill in Charlotte, is now overseer spinning at Mavesworth. N. C. W. J. Hamilton has resigned as second hand in carding in the Chad wick Mill, Charlotte, to accept a sim ilar position with the Knoxville (Tenn.) Cotton Mill. Geo. Witherspoon, formerly head second hand at the Richland Cotton Mills, Columbia, is now overseer of weaving at. Seneca, S. (’. P. D. Wade, who was formerly superintendent of the Pelzer Mfg. Co., has accepted the superintendency of the Greenwood (S. C.) Cotton Mills G. C. Head, from Spartanburg. S. C., has accepted a position as engin eer and master mechanic in the Mary-Leila Mills, at Greensboro, Ga. J. Adger Smyth, of Pelzer, S. C., has been elected president of the Watts Mill, Laurens, S. C., succeed ing W. D. Hammett who resigned his position in order to devote more time to the mills at Anderson. Mr Smyth has for several years been an assistant to his father, Capt. E. A. Smyth, in the management of the Pelzer Mills. W. M. Nabors, who recently resign ed the position of overseer in the card room at Enoree. S. C.. has ac cepted a position in the Jackson Mill at Iva. John O’Brien, formerly superinten dent of the Asheville Mill has suc ceeded Mr. Lacy as superintendent of the Elk Mountain Mills, near that city. James C. Reid, who was for several years superintendent of the mill at Altamahaw. X. and later general manager of the Meridian (Miss.) Cot ton Mills, has accepted a position as manager of the business in the South ern States for C. Biseboff & Co., itn porters and dealers in dye stuffs. has accepted a similar position with the Springstein, Chester, S. C. J. L. Beaver, from Fries, Va., is now numbered with the loom fixers at Kannapolis, N. C. G. W. Green, from the Cherry Cot ton Mills at Florence, Ala., is now overseer spinning, spooling, etc., for the Courtenay Mfg. Co., Newry, S. C. W. P. Pender, formerly master me chanic in the cotton mills at Gon zales, Texas, now has a similar posi tion with the Lane Cotton Mill, in New Orleans, La. W. M. Keller has been promted from second hand to succeed W. M Abernathy as overseer of carding in the Lula Cotton Mill, King’s Moun tain, N. C. N. F. Harris has returned from Burlington to finish up a job of over hauling in the Gem Mills, at Gibson- ville, N. C. C. H. Lock man, from Lindale, Ga.. has succeeded H. O. Burns as second hand in the weave room at Warren- ville, S. C. R. H. H. Riddle has been promoted from second hand to overseer of weaving at the Rhode Island Mills. Spray, N. C. A. F. Aldridge, of Columbia, S. C., has moved to Albemarle, N. C., hav ing accepted a position is the Efird Mill, looking after repairing the ma chinery. John Stevens, from Pelham, Ga., former!v superintendent of the Es telle Mills, at Selma. Ala., and of the Montgomery Cordage Mill, is now superintendent of the Wehadkee Yarn Mill at Rock Mills, Ala. W. H. Manning has resigned as engineer at the Pelham (Ga.) Cotton Mills, to retire to his plantation in the country. Mr. Brown, from Thom- asville, succeeds him. Geo. Hill, from *he Tocooa Cotton Mill, is now overseer of carding ant’ spinning in the Capps Mill at Toccoa, Ga. A. B. Peterson, for the past year and a half, overseer of spinning, spooling and warping, for the Courte nay Mfg. Co., Newry, S. C.. has re signed and is now located at Seneca, S. C.. where he contemplates going into the photograph business. J. B. Johnson, one of the second hands at the Monoghan Mill, Green ville, S. C„ will be the overseer of weaving at the new Simpsonville, S. C., cotton mills. He will assume his new duties about December 15th. Joe Echols, for some time at the Hanover Mills, at Coacord, N. C.. is now fixing looms at the Monoghan Mills, Greenville, S. C. A. V. Brannon, from the Aetna Mills. Union. S. C.. has accepted a position as boss weaver at the Mills Mfg. Co., Greenville. S.
