tion in Tennessee, Hon. Edward Ward
Carmack, former United States sena
tor from Tennessee, was ahot and
killed in a street duel here Monday
afternoon by Kobin Cooper, a young
attorney. Young Cooper was wound
ed in the shoulder by a bullet from
Carmack's revolver, and is tonight un
der police surveillance in a local hos
pital. His condition is not serious.
