A BOLD BURGLARY.
Thief Enters Store of Mr. Gallagher
and Steals Money.
Wednesday morning when Mr. J. J.
Gallagher, who conducts a grocery
store on Rutledge avenue, went to
open up for business he found that
some one had preceded him, and
that the door to his storeroom was

have put on a night force of hands,
and will now run the plant day and
night. This is, indeed, good news,
as it shows that the prospect for the
cotton goods trade is growing bright
er, All the mill machinery in Gaff
ney is now driven by Gaston Shoals
power.
Postmaster Hester recently made
a request of the postofflee depart
ment at Washington to allow this of
fice another clerk on account of In
creased business. The department
responded at once authorizing Mr.
Hester to employ another man. The
new man will be put on the 16th
instant.
Among the new songs introduced
by J. Earley Hughes, who appears at
the opera house on Saturday night,

ciation to know that W. E. Ciocker,
Jr., has made his appearance upon
our mission field. We hope he may,
after awhile, be a worker with his
father in the interest of Christianity.

A serious accident was narrowly
averted at the RobSrtson stree* cross
ing of the Southern Railway yester
day morning. Just as No. 42 was
pulling in a mountaineer in a cover
ed wagon attempted to cross the
track. The cowcatcher struck the
tongue of the wagon, the force throw
ing the wagon and team away from
the track, and no one was hurt.
Mr. J. E. Ezell and family, who
have been living in Gaffney for the
past ten years, have moved to Sum-
merton, where Mr. Ezell will engage
in business with his. brother-in-law,
Mr. T. Irby Walker. Irby and Ed
ought to make a good team. They
are both clever fellows and The Led
ger wishes them all manner of suc
cess. Gaffney regrets to lose Mr. and
Mrs. Ezell and their charming child
ren.
The young men and their parents are
cordially invited to attend as well as
the young ladies. Strangers invited

9:45 a. m.

Huskey, both prominent Cherokeeans,
were joined in marriage on the 19th
ult., at the home of the bride’s father,
Mr. Dick Huskey. The ceremony
