The Woman’s Missionary Union at
Goucher last Saturday was a grand
success and the well arranged pro
gramme was carried out without a
hitch. The meeting was called to
order promptly at 10 o’clock and on
Mrs. W. Sam Lipscomb’s absence
Miss Addle Brown acted as president,
to which office Miss Addle was elect
ed during the meeting. Miss Ella
Brown, who was chosen to deliver
the opening address, did so in grace
ful manner and her speech was pro
nounced a feature of Saturday’s
work. The committee arranging the
speakers, certainly acted wise in se
lecting Miss Ella. Miss Pettit, who
was to have responded to Miss
Brown’s address, was not present, so
Mrs. J. C. Otts acted in her stead
and made a beautiful speech. Miss
Mattie Simms was, as usual, present
in her chair as secretary. Miss
Mathis, a missionary, now taking
her vacation, from Greenville, added
life to the meeting and although The
Ledger correspondent was not pres
ent, still we learned much about the
meeting.

people is to save it after they have made it. No
