The Boys Played Star Ball and Took the Series. The Buffalo baseball team came over last Thursday to play three Karnes on our ball lot with the In dians. The Indians put on their war paint, stuck feathers in their head- gear, gripped their tomahawks, gave a war-whoop and proceeded to do some scalping. They were victorious In three battles, in each of which they did some splendid work. Both teams were reinforced with profes sionals. Manager Doggett, of the Buffalo team, stated to a Ledger man that he did not expect to win any of the games. In this he was not disap pointed. He is a splendid fellow and has a fine herd of players. We hope they will furnish us additional meat In the future. The box score of the three games follows: BUFFALO. Hamrick's catching in the Buffalo series was of the highest order. o o o Martin is far and away the best short stop that has ever appeared on the local ball lot. o o o Prim can certainly hit some. A triple, a double and a single out of four times up was his record in Sat urday's game. o o o Bell is the best amateur first base- man in the world. No other man can cover that first bag as he does. Pretty good work It seems for a bunch of kids. 000 Hamrick only had one base stolen on him in three games with Buffalo. That’s catching some. 000 Little Johnny Maxwell put up a great game at third In the Buffalo series. 000 McFadden had some hard chances in centerfield hut made good on them all. He stole home in the tenth In ning of Friday’s game making the trip In safety by a beautiful slide. 000 Richardson cintinues to swat at a lively rate. He Is a great pinch hit ter and hits at a steady clip all the time. Rich is hard to stop on the paths too. 000 Little’s hitting was timely In the games Friday and Saturday. He amassed three hits out of four tlmen up Saturday. 000 Bell is the best sacrifice hitter on the local club. He can hunt one most anywhere he wants to lay it down.
