The Boys Played Star Ball and Took
the Series.
The Buffalo baseball team came
over last Thursday to play three
Karnes on our ball lot with the In
dians. The Indians put on their war
paint, stuck feathers in their head-
gear, gripped their tomahawks, gave
a war-whoop and proceeded to do
some scalping. They were victorious
In three battles, in each of which
they did some splendid work. Both
teams were reinforced with profes
sionals. Manager Doggett, of the
Buffalo team, stated to a Ledger man
that he did not expect to win any of
the games. In this he was not disap
pointed. He is a splendid fellow and
has a fine herd of players. We hope
they will furnish us additional meat
In the future. The box score of the

last Friday evening, in honor of
Misses Lula and Freeman Garrett, of
Gaffney. The guests, on arriving
were met at the door by Miss Hattie
Hodges and Mrs. Smiley Stevens.
From there they were ushered into
the reception hall, where Mr. and
Mrs. Floyd Baker were receiving, as
sisted by the Misses Garrett, Mayor
and Mrs. Kenneth Baker, Mrs. L. Ba
ker and Mrs. J. F. Garrett, of Gaff
ney. Misses May Moore and Lila
Rivers assisted by serving delicious
fruit punch. Refreshments were
served during the evening by Mrs.
G. A. Byrd, J. L. Wldeman, Chris
tine Baker and Myrtls Little, of Gaff
ney, Norma Cllnkscales and Joseph
McGee. About sixty-five young peo
ple enjoyed this delightful evening.

of the young people repaired to the
“New Hall” and engaged in a delight-
full dance, given by tb e young men
complimentary to the Misses Garrett

floor and the occasion was very much
