and apples. They were certainly ap
preciated by all.
On tomorrow evening there will be
given on Mr. l.ee Gilbert's lawn an
ice cream supper, the proceeds ot
which will go to the Gaffney Concert
Band.
The last jury ease tried In the
court of common pleas before ad
journment was that of D. L. Vassey
against W. Lawson Spake. After be
ing out a short time the jury render
ed a verdict for the plaintiff. Messrs, j
.T. C. Otts and C. P. Sanders repre
sented the plaintiff while Messrs.
Butler & Osborne and W. S. Hall re
presented the defendant.
We have seen a copy of "The
i Spint,” the college annual of the
South Carolina Military Academy. It
is a uem in both typography and mat
ter. Our fellow townsman, Mr. Har
ry R. Wilkins, is the business man
ager and the splendid array of ad
vertisements is a tribute to his ability.
Mr. Wilkins is a favorite among the
cadets and has been honored quite a
good deal. He is now first lieuten
ant. He finished his studies this year
i and is now at home until October
when he goes to take a position in
the Porter Millitary Academy. The
Ledger is always pleased to note the
success of Gaffney's bright younsr
