Co., cherryville, N. C. George Stewart hag accepted the position of carder and spinner at the I^aFayette Cotton Mills. LaFayette, Ga. C. E. Strother, formerly of the Rhode Island mill at Spray, has ac cepted a position in the weave room at cooleemee, N. C. R. F. Adams nas resigned as over seer of spinning in the Dresden mill at Lumberton to accept a similar po sition in the Liberty mill at Clayton, X. C. A. A. MacWhinnie, w ho for the past B. J. Dobbins, until recently super intendent of the Loray Mills, Gas tonia. N. C., hag accepted the position of general superintendent of the Hen rietta and Caroleen Mill* and assum ed charge on June 15th. These twin mills are among the largest in the State and Mr. Dobbius’ election to the position of general superinten dent is a tribute to bis ability and ex perience as a mill man. \V. A. East having resigned the po sition of boss spinner in the War- ioto Cotton Mills at Nashville, Tenn., will take a much needed rest and spend some time in visiting relatives in Mississippi before again engaging in mill work. Mr. East has been in the above position for several years, after having served in a similar posi tion fop a long time in the mills of Natchez. Miss. J. T. I enjoy the good letters from our good friends which makes us feel closer to each other. The picnic at the dam at Gaston Shoals Saturday, 2<)th, proved a suc cess. We hai a large crowd present, about 200, and all enjoyed the occasion very much. The only thing for amusement in the morning was sporting, so they said, and we had as nice a dinner as any one could wish for and all took part in it. When Grassy Pond and Providence go together and say they will do a thing you may look out, for there will be something doing. We are glad to say we had an unusual crowd with us at Grassy Pond Sunday, anj we had the pleas ure of hearing one of the finest Sun day school talks we ever heard by Mr. Wall, of Cliff^idc N. C. We en joyed having Mr. Wall with us and hope he will come again. We have a fine Sunday school at Grassy Pond. Wi) have an enrollment of 191 and the school is in a flourishing condi tion.
