Short Temperance Sermon.
Text Epherians, 5:18. “Be not drunk-
with wine wherein is excess, but be
filled with the spirit.”
Regardless of this and many other
Scriptural injunctions, many of our
people prefer being filled with the
spirits (being drunken) to being fill
ed with the spirit. There is only one
cause and that is sin. Only one re-j
medy and that is Jesus Christ.
We read in 1st Cor. *5:10 where no
drunkard can enter the kingdom of
Mrs. R. E. Knox and sons. Masters I leaven, and surely if they desire to
go there they must cease to be drunk
ards. What is the effect of being
drunk with wine, with beer, whiskey,
brandy, chill tonic peruna. Jamaca
ginger, stomach bitters, or anything
intoxicating? It paralyzes the brain,
keeps the soul asleep and kills the
body. What does the drunkard do?
He abuses those he should love, kills
himself and others, fills a drunkard's
grave and goes to a drunkard’s hell.
What does this liquid damnation or
bottled bell do? It ruins your boys,
makes drunkards, paupers and crimi
nals out of them. It can't do business
without boys. You see when the old
drunkards are al! gone it would die
only for the new ones. So many run
around crying snake bit and seem to
be ignorant of the kind of a snake
that has bitten them. Friends, it is
that old serpent, the devil. Thank
God the people in North Carolina
found this out. .
Now God has said in His word,
‘ The seed of the woman shall bruise
the serpent's head,” (Genn. 3:13).
We read in the Bible where the king
dom of God is within you. Now with
the drunkard it is the kingdom of the
devil within him and even* drink
For Nervous, Over-worked
and “Run Down” Women
\V omen in nn exhausted, nervous state, due to over-work, continuous
social functions or a general “run down” condition of health, often wonder
why tonics and emulsions fail to benefit them. The reason is plain.
Tonics and emulsions are good in their place, but they cannot build up the
body until the nerves have been toned and quieted.
There’s only cue remedy that can restore health to women in this ex
hausted, nervous condition, because it acts directly upon the nerves.
40
AmericanHIs Elixir
is the only remedy of its kind in existence. As its name implies, it’s a
specific for the peculiar exhausted nervous conditions resulting from the
continuous rush and tension under which Americans live. This remedy
fills an important gap in the line of medicines.
Rexall Americanitis supplies to the body just those elements which
Nature cannot supply in sufficient quantities to meet the unnatural drain
upon the nervous system.
Phosphorus in soluble form is the basis of this splendid nerve food.
Thousands of women have been saved from nervous prostration by the
prompt use of Rexall Americanitis. To all conditions of nervous derange
ment, exhaustion and debility it brings pernajment relief.
