Dr. Adams, president of the Pres byterian College of South Carolina, preached an eloquent sermon Sunday morning at the Presbyterian church from Gallatians 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ; neverthless I live, yet not I, but Christ liveth in me, and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." Dr. Adams preached a most compre hensive sermon, and said in part that, when Christ died on the cross Paul, the Apostle, died with Him, just as all believers in His doctrines and teachings died. That Christ in dying to save sinners became their substi tute, and when the sustitute takes the place of one whom he represents, dies or is billed, his principal is le gally dead. This company appeared in Green ville last Friday and Saturday and the Greenville News says: "The Beggar Prince Opera Com pany made a good impression on Greenville theatre-goers last night in their presentation of good music and clever, clean comedy. '~~* 9 I in the evening Dr. Adams preacned a very strong sermon from second gd Coffinthians, 5:18, “And all things ™ are of God, who hath reconciled us, to Himself by Jesus Christ, and hath, given to us the ministry of reconcila- tion.” Paul, in writing of the great | plan of salvation, said that salvation- comes from God alone. The problem | with us is, how shall an offended God and an offending man become recon ciled; that those whom W'e injure we do not love? Man has a natural in-i stinct for worship, and in seeking ob jects for worship, he has frequently gone astray, having found not one but many idols. From the heart of the Divine Creator came the plan ^ of salvation which meets every re- ouipmcnt of man. Justice makes demand, mercy pleads, and the Son of God became surety for the sinner, and that when He was born upon earth, tried, condemned and aa crucified, He carried out the Divine plan of salvation by atoning for the E sins of all mankind. Man did 1 not and could not have pul Christ to death, He delivered up his spirit to God who gave it freely and volun tarily in order that the divine plan of salvation might be carried out. The cross did not mean sanctification, hut just the reverse; it did not mean glory but shame. God, the Father. Is entirely satisfied with His Son. God has become reconciled to smni» man through the mediation of His Son and God. Himself, will not judge the sinner, hut His Son would perform that office. If God Is reconciled and satisfied and will not Judge the world, then why will not all men be saved? It is because they do not belive on the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ said: “Believe on me and thou shalt be saved, and when) we stand before the judgment bar j we will realize that if we are not saved It Is because we have not and would not avail ourselves of the di vine plan of salvation created by God, the Father.
