I with January futures less than 11
cents.

On January 18th, Ruby, the nine-
I year-oid daughter of Mr. and Mr&
W. D. Kirby celebrated her ninth
birthday. About twenty guests were
p -esent to wish the young lady many
happy returns. The gifts were varied
and costly and showed the high ap
preciation which the little girl’s asso
ciates hav^ for her. Delicious re-

I were present will long remember the
i happy occasion.
; The laughing, rolicking comedv of
; “Terry, the Swell,” was presented at
; the Star Theatre Wednesday evening
and all who attended were delighted
with the entertainment. Of course
there was no plot to speak of. but
there was lots of fun, and although
the audience was small, the entire
company did their best to please and,
there was not a dull moment during
the entire performance. There are
some real clever people with the
company and they deserve to be more
liberally patronized.

Coming, FayMoux, the Hypnotist
Fay s so ux, the phenomenal boy hyp
notist, whose startling and weird ex
hibitions In mental telepathy and
hypnotism have created a furore t*
cently in the capital cities of Ameri
ca, hag been secured by the manager
of the star Theatre for an engage
ment of three nights, commencing
next Monday.
Fayssoux is a man of surprise. It
is a common practice of this extraor
dinary genius to introduce himself on
his arrival in a city where he is un
known by startling the community
with some weird test of his astound-
ing psychic forces. The hypnotic
phenomenon is fanciful and eccentric
at times, essaying feats that are seem
ingly impossible and astonishing not
only the public, but his own manager
and business agents as well, by the
^a^e with which he performs appar
ent niraelos.
Fayssoux hag taken it Into his head
to surprise the people of this city
with a blindfold drive through the
principal streets next Monday after
noon. His drive behind a span of
fiery steeds, however, Is the simplest
part of the free public demonstration
he proposes to give, a committee of
well known citizens will participate
in the test of Fayssoux’s mind read
ing power. While some of the mem
bers of the committee stand guard
over the mental telepathist, who Is
blindfolded and insolated, others will
conceal In some part of the city a
small object, such as a key, knife or
something similar. When they re
turn to the starting place they will
enter a carriage with -Fayssoux and
his guards. The mind reader, blind
folded, will mount to the driver’s
seat, and seizing the reins he will
drive over the route taken by the
men who concealed the object of his
search. He will undertake to go
straight to the binding place, and
leaving the carriage, will lead the
committee to the secret repository,
which is apparently bnown only to
them, and will uncover the hidden ob-
jAt to their gaze.
Other strange tests will also be
given.
I AS THE TWIG IS BENT
J
So will the tree incline. We have all seen this proverb illus
trated so often that It is a wonder that we don’t heed it more.
If you can teach a child the value of money and habits of thrift
and saving, you may rest secure that that child will never want
for money, and will achieve a financial success. Teach the lit
tle one to savfi a part of the money that is given to it or that it
earns. Show it how to deposit that money in a strong bank
where it will be safe and where the child will learn business
methods. The result is just as sure as anything can be in this
world. We will welcome the small account because we know
that in time it will grow to be large and valuable. Start an
account with a dollar in our Savings Department, where it will
earn 4 per cent, interest.
