At a meeting of the local Farmers’ Union, held at Etta jane school house on Saturday night, November 30th, on motion of John F- Estes, a com mittee was appointed by President F. A. Goforth to draft a suitable trib ute to the memory of Dr. Lionel R. Black, a deceased member of this local union, which was unanimously adopted ag follows: “Whereas it has pleased Almighty God, in the wise dispensation of His providence, to remove from our, midst by death, our esteemed brother and co-laborer, Dr. Lionel R. Black, there fore be it resolved; “1. That we bow in humble submis sion to the will of Almighty God, knowing that He is too wise to err, too just to do wrong, and too merci ful to willingly afflict. "2. That in the death of Dr. Black our local union has sustained the loss of a wise counsellor ajid a useful member. •‘3. That we tender to his bereaved family and mourning friends uf our deceased brother, Lionel R. Black, over whom sorrow has hung her sable mantle, our heartfelt condolence and pray that infinite goodness may bring speedy relief to their burdened hearts and inspire them with the con solation that hope in futurity and faith in God give consolation even in the ‘shadow of death.’ “4.
