LATEST NEW YORK STYLES.
Exclusive Mode*; Evening Dresses;
Net and Lace In Great Favor.
The present year may be said to
| have styles wholly exclusive and
suggesting nothing that has been
worn In past seasons. Peculiar pen
dant ornaments, braid frogs, and fan
cy loops of cords are all popular.
Silk braids of all sorts are also used
and in many cases these trimmings
: are very fancy and show a free use
of crochet wheels, open stitches and
, the addition of small buttons and
! ornaments. This is especially tne
■ case In regard to evening toilettes
which are distinctly novel. The latest
[idea from Paris is the evening gown
' with a gulmpe. This guimpe which ia
i usually of lace, chiffon, gauze or thin
silk of some sort, takes the form of
a fuil blouse with low neck and short
j sleeves. Over this la worn a bolero
I of the Japanese type or straps from
the skirt run up over the shoulders
to form bretelles.
Nat and Laca for Evening.
Dreasea of net and allover lace are
extremely fashionable for evening
wear at present. A dress of this sort
lately seen at an exclusive Fifth
avenue modiste’s was of plain white
net made over a slip of rose pink
taffeta and having between the net
and the silk a loose skirt and body
lining of gauze stripped in silver.
The effect of these glittering stripes,
just visible beneath the net, was very
lovely. At the same establishment
were other dresses of net and lace
with skirts trimmed with flounces
from five to six inches broad edged
with a knife pleating of taffeta less
than an inch wide.
Furs.
There is an infinite variety In the
modes this winter and at the opening
of that leader of fashions in fur, C.
C. Shayne, a remarkable collection of
coatfc., wraps, automoble garments,
fur neck pieces and muffs was shown.

! winter for short Jackets which are
| usually made In the box of eeml-flt-

metal buttons. Caracul coats are al
so worn and are made up in very
i smart styles. At this establishment
Is displayed a very chic little jacket
of this fur made with a vest of Per
sian embroidery and a Jaunty collar
faced with velvet and trimmed at
the seams and around the bottom
with fancy black braid.
An Elegant jacket.
Another Jacket Is In kimono effect.
This also had a vast of Persian trim
ming and Is lined throughout with
brocade, which, by the way, is the
fashionable lining for fur coats this
season. Mink, chinchilla, Persian
lamb and seal skin are all used for
coats and are made up into some very
modish garments ho’h short and
long. The fur coats Intended for
evening are very luxurious indeed.
One imported model is In broadtail
cut full length in a particularly
graceful shape and having a Wat
teau pleat at the back. Another eve
ning coat of the same fur has an ar
tistic trimming of black velvet flow
ers set off with touche? of gold.
Neck Pieces, Muffs and Boas.
Necb pieces in pelerine shape are
most fashionable especially In mink.
The handsomest skins are this year
put In almost whole so that they
can be taken apart without Injury
when the fur Is made over. Muffs
are precisely the same as they were
last season, afid boas in all fur? are
the iH'ial length and again flat. With
cravats, however, there is a decided
difference, the ends are longer and
rounded. A lovely set consists of
ermine cravat and muff, and similar
pieces of ghincil.a are also charming.
White fur Is lu such urgent demand
! that box coats or ermine have been
brought out, and white fox is now
added, a result of the prevailing
“white fad” which appears to Increase
rather than diminish.

Everything good we buy nowadays
has to have some kind of a stamp or
label on It. backed by the reputa
tion and guarantee of the maker.
Otherwise one can never know
whether the article Is what it pre
tends to be or not.
This Is more particularly true of
clothes than almost anything else.
And unless a young man goes to a
dealer who handles guaranteed
clothes, the product of some manu
facturer of high reputation like Eder-
helmer, Stein & Co., of Chicago, he
cannot be sure of getting garments
with the right style, fit or weaiin&
quality.
The Ederhelmer-Steln label Is the
best known mark of superior cloth
ing. The way this firm makes Its
goods puts more valuo In Its guaran
tee than is to he found In most, names
on clothing. Before the Ederhelmer-
Steln label goes into a garment, the
patterns are ca’ fully Selected, goout>
examined and shrunb, cut by expe-ts
and many steps taken to secure per
fection In the making, particularly
between the lining and outside, which
you cannot see, but which 1s the
work that produces permanent good
appearance and durability. ’
So far thes'e reasons It Is the saf
est way to buy clothing by looking
for the label of the manufacturer;
and It’s well to settle on the Eder-

best.

GET WHAT YOU WANT-
The “Just a B Good Kind” Never
Pays.
If there Is one thing more than an
other that should aggravate a self-
respecting person, it is to be told
that the article they ask for at
their druggist's Is not to be had,
but that they can have some
thing ’just as good or better.” The
principal reason for such attempts to
substitution is either the desire of
the storekeeper to sell something on
which he can nr’ke more money, or
he hasn’t the goods asked for. and
wants to make the sale of something
in Its place.
Every reader of this paper should
bear in mind when asking fr«r Vinol,

The reason Vinol Is so far supe

scientific, extractive and concentrat

combining with peptnnate of iron all
the medicinal, healing and hod / build
