Tuesday was appointed mall clerk.
; He has not determined whether he
will give un the bookkeeping Job for
the mall clerk Job or not. but we
mention these facts to show that he

selling home raised meat. Last Mon-
dav they bought about thlrtv bend of
cattle from John R. McCullough, of
Wllkfnsvllle. It was a splendid lot
of home raised cattle and shows that
cattle ralslni? In Cherokee Is not a
myth; neither Is It unprofitable. The
only troubl - is we should raise more
cattle than we do.
Death Of Mr. John Hodge.
Mr. John H. Hodge died at his home
in this city last Saturday. Mr. Hodge
had been sick quite a while and hla
death was not unexpected. For
several years Mr. Hodge had been a
watchman for the Gaffney Manufact
uring Company. He was a very
agreeable man and had lots of friends.
The Interment took place Monday at
Gilead church, in Union county. He
is survived by a wife and several
children. Deceased was about forty
years of age.
First Bsptlst Church Notes.
Dr. Simms will conduct the rugular
service Sunday at U a. m.
At 4 p. m. there will be a gathering
of the church for conference about
the work and the Lord's memorial
will close the service. Every member
of the church is urged to be present
