Sanders^ who has been making Gaffney her home for some time, has moved to Ninety-Nine Is lands. A. W. Clary has purchased from J. H. Curry the house and lot on Buford street lately occupied by J. M. Nel son. Mr. Clary will take posesslon at once. Jones J. Darby went to Spartan burg Sunday to hear the famous Tem ple Quartet of Boston at the T. M. C. A. in that city. Jones says the per formance was splendid. An entertainment for the benefit of Gal ey circuit parsonage will be had at 1 mber Ridge school house on Fri day i ' v ht, October 25th. All who can come .uould do so. Adults 20 cents, children 10 cents. Ted Galbraith, the genial general agent of the Donnelly & Hatfield Minstrels, was in Gaffney yesterday for puipose of advertising his show, which 1 HI be here one week from to night. This is one of the best mins trel aggregations on the road, and It is safe to say that all who attend the performance will get the worth of their money. Jones J. Darby has succeeded in getting up a class of twenty to take the degree in the “D. O. K. K.” A delegation will come down from Spartanbu z next month to carry these tyrot across the hot sands of the desert. The lion will roar, the wolf will bowel and the tiger will screech on this momentous occasion. Tyros, prepare to meet your doom! ' A very p* uliar accident happened to the little six-year-old son of Mr. Eliphas Harmon on Thursday. The little fellow was on the back end of a loaded wagon when in passing a rough, rocky place he fell off on his head, making an ugly looking hole in his skull, the pieces of hone being forced against the brain. Dr. J. N. Nesbitt, who was called to see him, removed the pieces of bone and the little fellow Is doing well. To commemorate the history of the early settlement of the Ohio valley, especially In Old Kentucky, no better pieces could have been written than “Daniel Boone on the Trail,” which comes ag an attract! a at the Star Theatre Thursday night. To mabe the piece in thorough keeping with Its day and age, a pack of wolves, a den of bears and a band of Sioux In dians are used, all of which will be seen on the streets the day of the show. L. T. Randall has made an experi ment at his foundry with some iron ore which was recently found near Gaffney by Dr. Lee. Owing to the fact that there was a lack of Intense heat, only a small quantity of iron was obtained. The quality of the Iron was of the very best. ' and the experiment proved concluslve- ; ly that with proper facilities a fine quality of iron can be produced from ! this ore. The funeral services of Hon. W. F. McArthur were held at Buford Street Methodist church on Friday after noon at 3 o’clock and was conducted by Rev. S. B. Harper, assisted by Revs. J. B. Wilfcon and W. T. Thomp son. A large crowd of people attend ed the services, and the floral offer ings were numerous and beautiful. A feature of the service was the rendering of “Some sweet day well understand,” by Mrs. Charles W. Hames. The floral tribute offered .by the stewards and trustees of Buford Street Methodist church was elegant* and costly, showing the appreciation which they had for their fellow of ficer.
