There Is no denying the fact that patrons of the Star Theatre are en joying a better class of attractions this year than ever before. In fact the shows this season have all been good, with the possible exception of two, and they were not wholly bad. Last night the Watson Stock Co. opened a three night’s engagement presenting ‘‘Her Bitter Atonement;" tonight’s bill is ‘‘The Child Stealers/’ and tomorrow night they will close with the latest sensational Irish comedy drama in four acts entitled ‘‘Saved from the Sea.” The prices prevailing are 15, 25 and 35 cents. No line of plays Is being so warmly received this season throughout the country,, as the pieces that portray the life on the western frontier or the life of the pioneer in the days that were fraught with hardships and i danger. While working on the new station at Salibury Saturday morning, Cor nelius Wist, a. negro, was stabbed by John Floyd, a white man, and the wound Is an ugly one. The men dis puted about something that neither the injured man nor those about him could tell, and the white fellow stab bed the negro near the groin and raked him across the body. He bled profusely and was carried, after walking up town, to the Whitehead- Stobes Sanatorium, where he will be treated. The assaailant was captur ed and is being held awaiting the re sult of the Injuries. OH Found In North Carolina. It Is believed that oil has been found at Mount Pleasant. For some time the well at Mount Amoena Semi nary ha* been filling with oil, and It was thought that some one was, out of meanness, pouring oil Into the well, it became so full of oil that an examination was led to, and It Is be lieved that the oil is a natural flow and Is genuine berosene.
