Mr. J. T. Rodgers showed us a
watch case Tuesday that had been
through a cotton gin. The watch be
longed to Mr. A. J. McCrav, and In
working around the gin, he accident
ally dropped it into the machinery.
The case was considerably cut up;
but, strange to say, the works were
not hurt, and Mr. McCraw had them
transferred to another case, and they
are none the worse for the accident
and their narrow’ escape from de
struction.
A watch belonging to another per
son w’as dropped Into the same gin
the day before; but It. did not pass
through so successfully, as It was
totally destroyed, both case and
works.

Pretty Home Wedding.
A marriage of much Interest took
place yesterday afternoon In Gaffney
when Hon. waiter W. Wells, of
Florence, and Miss Maude Wilson, of
this city, were married at the home
of the bride. Rev. S. B. Harper,
using the beautiful ritual of the Meth
odist church performed the cere
mony In the presence of a few
friends. I
The bride is the second daughter
of Rev. J. B. Wilson and is a beauti
ful and accomplished young lady.
Mr. w^ells is one of the most promi
nent young men In the State. He is
State senator from his county and
has recently been appointed solicitor
to fill the unexpired term of Judge
John S. Wilson. The happy cou >le
left on No. 38, the Southern's no th-
bound vestibule, for a tour of noi th
em and eastern cities.
