The residence of Dr. Geo. Oates, of
Grover, was burned last Monday
night. Dr. Oates and wife were at
Shelby at the time. Last spring Dr.
Oates' barn was burned and It Is be
lieved that both conflagations was the,
work of an Incendiary.
Sheriff Kidd, of Hart county. Geor
gia. came to Gaffney Tuesday for the
negro Jordan whom Sheriff Thomas
had in custody for murder in that
State. After seeing the negro Sheriff
Kidd said he was the wrong man so
the prisoner was released.

establish a new mill for Gaffney will
succeed in the undertaking. In case
they are successful Gaffney will have
