From • Bereaved Family.
Mir. Editor:—Please allow ua apace
in which to mabe a few remark* In
regard to the death of otir dear eon,
L. N. Harvey.
He was born and raised at Pacolet,
S. C.. and was brought up by religious
parents, and taught to respect and
take part in religious work. He
joined the Methodist church when
h e was thirteen years old and was a
bright little Christian and remained
so until he began business for him
self. When he began fighting his
own battle and making an honest
struggle, he was thrown in contact
with many young me n whom be
thought to be his friends but later
found them to be his worst enemies,
leading him little by little away from
the path which he had been taught
to trod. “lit” was a child of sweet
disposition, never known to begin a
fuss but always avoided sam e when
possible. At the time of his death
he was running a cafe here in town
and his business called him to Spar
tanburg. We are satisfied our boy
went there for no other intention
than transacting business, for the
horse which he sent home was pur
chased at, 5 o’clock before being kill
ed at 7:30 o’clock on the -fTh of
March. The readers of this article
can only say, poor boy, he was
snared when least expected, who
will he the next?
This is written by his broken
hearted parents, who are joined by
’he home circle, and our prayers are,
that the law will guide to a just ver
dict.

The Dempeey case.
W. H. Dempsey, who was mention
ed in Tuesday’s ’lynlger as having
been arrested on the charge of sell
ing whiskey, and who forfeited his
bond by leaving the city, was arrest
ed in Morristown, Tenn., and brought
back to Gaffney Wednesday morning
by Chief of Police Lockhart, who
went after him. Dempsey made good
the check and the case of the town
against him was dismissed. It is
understood, however, that there will
b e a State case against him. In fact
he has given bond in two cases for
his appearance before the circuit
court. Dempsey’s unceremonious de
parture from the city created no end
of talk.
