Jud McCraw had the misfortune a few days ago to have his left band severelv cut while working about his saw mill. It was promptly treated and we are glad to state the wound is doing well. Thos. J. Kirby-Pettit. O n Wlednesday afternoon at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. G. L. Pettit, of Ravenna Mr. Coliis Kirby and Miss Vinnie Pettit wm-e united in marriage. The cere mony was performed by Rev. A* D. Davidson and was witnessed by a few of the friends of the contracting parties. The bride is one of the prettiest voung ladies in Cherokee countv and numbers her friends by the score. The groom is a popular ming busi ness man of this .city. He is a cor- portner of the firm of Clary & Kirby and also numbers his friends bv the score. The best wishes of a larse circle of acquaintances attend this young couple. In the United States court at Green ville last w’eek Early Ellis, a voung white man of this county, was con victed of selling whiskey and was sentenced to two months in Cherokee countv bail and to nay a fine of $100. Frab Snipes, a white youth, of this county plead guilty of worki.ng in a blockade still and was sentenced to one day in the county .lail. He had already M j en in jail nearly six months.
