Six white boys were before Mayor
Little yesterday morning for playing
cards. They were fined $2.00 each
and paid the fines. Tavo white men
were up for an affray and contribut
ed $5.<11) each for their fracus.
The nine-months old daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Henry McDowell died
Sunday and was buried yesterday at
3 o’clock at Oakland c metery. The
parents have th ( * deep sympathy of a
large circle of friends and acquaint
ances.

efficient and obliging and with whom
the force is likely to become very
much attacned.

tion of Miss Bessie Kendrick, of th‘
second grade in Central school which
was accepted with many regrets.
Mfiss Kend ’ck has been a most faith
ful and e f iciont teacher here for
several ye* rs. and it is a matter of
general regret that she does not feel
strong enough to continue the work.

Pearl Reid were married at the
home of the bride Sunday the 25th
at 6:30 o'clock by Rev. E. G. Ross.

Pink Hudgins and Miss Eflie Pur-
gerson were married Sunday 25th,
at 4:15 at the home of Mr. John
Huntsinger near Cherokee ford. A
large number of friends were pre
sent. The ceremony was pronounced
by Rev. E. O. Ross, of this city.

On last Saturday evening Miss Wil
ma Gaffney delightfully entertained
the B. B.’s with a three-course lunch

Death of Marion Bridges.
, Mr. Marion Bridges, farmer who
I resides just across the line on the
North Carolina side on Broad river,
died at his home last Friday, of pneu
monia after an illness of a short while
; Mr. Bridges was a middle aged man
and was well liked by those who knew
him. He was well known in Gaffney
i and in fact the entire county. Peace
to his ashes. \
Gone To Union.
Mr. Da\ Id N. Clark, who has been

time, left last week with his family
for Union, where they ^ull reside in
the future. Mr. Clark will engage in
business for himself in Union. The
