Every symptom suggests pollution; the discharge the red, angry flesh, the inflammation and discoloration of surrounding parts all show that the ulcer is kept open by a constant drainage through it, of impurities from the blood. ‘ When the blood is pure and healthy any cut, bruise or wound will heal readily; when W from any cause, however, the blood has become infected with germs or poisons the place® becomes a sore or ulcer, sometimes scabbing over, but never fully healing, because it is kept irritated and inflamed by the impurities in this vital fluid. There are no printers in the Ohio penitentiary While the printers wdre in tlm penitentiary they issued a publication, but suddenly it was discontinued and upon inquiry it was found there was not a printer left in imprisonment. It is said that there are enough bankers there to start a clearing house, enough Preach ers to form a minsterial association, and brokers to operate a stock ex change. The moral is obvious, even If one does have to improve on Mark Twain to point it out. Mark said: “De good and you’ll be lonesome.” He should have said: “Be good and you’ll be printers.” But really this ’ well for the craft, and we note it with pleasure. One farm, containing The Caterpillar. If any schoolboy were asked to give the derivation of “caterpillar” he would say that it had something to do with “cat.” And he would be right. The common explanation oL “caterpillar” is that it is the old French “chatepelose,” which means literally “hairy cat” and is very like the English “woolly bear.” The last two syllables suggested the English “piller,” a plunderer, and “caterpillar” was the regular spell ing until the seventeenth century. Dr. Murray’s dictionary suggests that the word may have come straight from “cat” and “pillar.” A Lombard word for caterpillar is “gatta” (cat) and a Swiss word “teu- felskatz” (devil’s cat), while a “cat kin” is the vegetable imitation of the caterpillar.
