Truth—truth to the South of Suwanee
river, of the .Tucklines and of the
waters of Caney Fork. For richness
of color, one could not well surpass ,
a study In the mountains of Tennes- j't'

a languorous, dreamy day of match
less ease and leisure, one could not
surpass the valleys farther south.
Few know this life so well as Opie
Read, and none have so well express
ed it. jjpdeed, so virgin is this field
that both Read and the South would
be serious losers should Read be
tempted to forsake it. But he never
will. Once the Southern dream, the
witchery 'of the Southand’s moon
light and the spell of the wild honey
suckle and the sweetbrier perfume
get into the blood they bum like
blue fire, like the madness of the
blue rose, as long as life lasts.
Read’s senses are permeated with
the breath of the South’s blue rose.”

At Limestone College Tonight.
Mr. Edwin Wilson, the baritone,
will be at Limestone College tonight,
He is regarded as one of the fore
most singers of the day. Of him the
Musical Courier says:
“The song recital of Friday eve
ning of last week, was a brilliant en
tertainment which was enjoyed by an
audience which filled every seat.
Many late comers were content to
enjoy the music standing. The fine ,
urogram was given by Edwin Wilson,
an admired baritone whose artistic
singing always is delightful. The
wide range of songs enabled the sing
er to show his uncommon verltillty.
Mr Wilson is at home in all vocal
forms. He possesses great dramatic
talents and invests with intense fer
vor such songs as demand this treat
ment. He Is equally great at the
other extreme, singing with simplicl
ty and daintiness such songs as do
not demand force and fervor. Mr.
Wlson’s method of vocalization is
legitimate, and in all the essays he
discloses a bright musical Intel
ligence. From whatever view con-
sided, the song recital Friday night
was a success”
