Mr. Liston Bids Farewell to Lime
stone Church.
At the Presbyterian church Sunday
morning and evening Dr. R. T Liston
orearhed two excellent sermons, the
evening discourse being one of the
best of the manv good sermons he
has nrearbed during his pastorate at
this church. For this sermon he
chose «<? his text II Corenthians 13:11,
"Finally brethren farewel 1 .’’ His dls
course was a learned dessertatlon on
the life of Paul, the Apostle, and he
took occasion to exhort his hearers
to emulate the examp’e of Paul.
Never once in the whole course of
his sermon did he allud° to his pas
tor-ate here or to his going away, hut
at the conc’uslon of his discourse he
took occasion to say some kind things
about the neople of Gaffney as a
whole, al'udlng in endearing terms to
the very pleasant relationship that
had existed between himself and the
other pastors of the city.
Rev. S. B Harper, of the Methodist
church arose and announced the
hymn “God be with you till we meet
again,” but before the singing of th°
hymn he took occasion to sa/ some
exceedingly nice things about Mr.
Liston and the members of the Pres-
bvterian church. His remarks were
very anpropriate and came from a
heart full of tender emotions for the
man about whom he was sneaking.
Mr. Liston responded, assuring Mr.
Hamer that he reciprocated the kind
ly feeling. The hymn was sang and
there seemed to he a specila tender
ness in the singing. Mr. Liston ttmn
nrnved, asking God’s richest blessings
noon the church, the town and the
State he was about to leave. It was
a thoughtful and beautiful netition.
At its conclusion he nronounred the
benediction. After thp service had
been concluded almost everyone in
the house. Methodist. Baptists and
Presbyterian, went up and hid Mr.
Liston farewell. It was a fitting close
to a most, annrouriate service.
Mr. Liston went to Snartanburg
yesterday to a meeting of Presbytery

It will he remembered that In No

young pianists now living—a seven
year-old boy named Beryl Ruben-

nlav these with no evidence of their
difficulty, but with apparent ease,
were enthusiastic to a degree. Since
his appearance here, young Ruben

the prominent musical centres of the

welcome news to learn that he will

doubtless, be a large and enthusias
