The “JoehuB. Simpkins*' company
with a fine brass band and splendid
orchestra, will be seen at the Star
Theatre tomorrow night. The play
is made of fun and realism, combin
ing the pleasing features of realistic
melodrama and the ever popular rural

said to be very’ clever, whle there is
an abundance of good music, singing

comes to us recommended as a good
one throughout. The saw mill scene
In the their act is said to be wonder
fully realistic a genuine circular
saw being seen in motion, with Uncle
Josh’s son lashed to a log by the vil
lains and started toward the glitter
ing teeth of the rapidly revolving
saw.
Concerning the play and company
the Spartanburg Journal had the fol

that city Christmas:
“For those who like a play in
which quaint rural characters hold a
conspicious portion of the bill. “Josh
ua Simpkins,’’ at the opera house
last night, was all that could be de
sired. While the theme was an old
one, with the human element features
when properly presented, and such
was the case last, night, there will
always be something to hold the in
terest of theatre-goers.
The orchestra, deserves special
mention for the admirable manner in
which the members rendered a popu
lar program.
