Joe Webster the Victim of Luoinda
Estes* Wrath.
Another homicide has been added to
the already long list in Cherokee. The
wife of Pink Estes, shot and killed Joe
Webster, another negro at her home in
Giffney last Friday night about 8:30
o’clock, The killing was done with a
single barreled breech-loading shot gun.
It seems that Webster’s wife and the Es
tes woman had a “scrap” during the day,
and when Webster found out about it, he
went to the Estes woman’s house for the
purpose of “regulating” her and met his
death. The coroner held an inquest over
the body Saturday evening. The woman
is in the county jail.
