Mr. Alonzo Mathis and Miss Bertha Burqess Happily Married. Ravenna. Dec. 1.—Last Wednesday night at 8:30 o’clock at the home of the bride. Miss Bertha Buanna Bur gess and Mr. Albert Alonzo Mathis, were happily married by their pastor, Rev. F. C. Hickson. Soon after dark the united guests began to arrive and by 8:3tt all had arrived. The marriage took place in the parlor which was beautifully decorat r 1 the colors being green and white. At 8:30 Miss Minnie Burgess, sis ter of the bride, announced the ar rival of the bridal party by the low sweet strains of Mendelssohn’s wed ding march. First came the attendants, Miss Eva Burgess and Mr. Fred Brown and Miss Lona Green and Mr. Victor Fos ter and Miss Vennle Pettit and Mr Claude Burgess and Miss Bessie Mathis and Mr. Tabe Harvey and Miss Rossie Foster, maid of honor, followed by the bride and groom. The groom, after taking their places beneath the beautiful arch erected by Miss Rossie Foster, R* v. F. C. Hick son, in a few solemn words, made them one for life. Miss Bertha Buanna Burgess is the fifth daughter of Mrs. Carrie Burgess, and is very beautiful and numbers her friends by the score. Mr. Albert Alonzo Mathis is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. “Dink” Mathis and is a very popular voung man. and has been quite fortunate in winning such a nice young lady for his better half. He was a member of our baraca class, hut marriage (by a previous resolution) dismissed any of the members from the class. This class will certainly miss Albert, hut as he invited the whole class to he present, the class presented him with a token of thoir esteem. This was one of the most popular marriages taking place here in sev eral years, hut as the wedding bells are merrily ringing perhaps others will follow. The bride and exoom received manv beautiful presents and prehaps forty guests were present. We extend our congratulations to this couple and hope life with its charms will follow them on the sea of matrimonial life. Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Mathis, parents of the groom, gave a big Thanksgiv ing dinner Thursday in honor of the bride and groom. Several others Invited, hut we cannot report the dinner more than to say it sur passes previous dinners in this home. It was almost a feast. C. Marriage at Mt. Paran.
