McManus of the Char- otte Greenville Division of the South ern Railway was in the city Tuesday, lie was accompanied by Mr. G. W. I D tter, road master. Messrs. Mc Manus and Detter called on a numb er of Gaffn' citizens and discussed changes to be made in the side track age. Among those visited was Mr. A. X Wood. Mr. Wood owns some very valuable property which joins the railroad opposite the new depot. The result of the conference is summed up in a few words. If the property owners along the railroad between Frederick and Robinson streets will agree to put in fronts and the city wi ] build a sidewalk and driveway, tlie railroad will tear out all the trackage along there and do its part toward beautifying that particular part of the city. Mr. Wood assured Mr. McManus that he would he only too glad to do this and he thought Messrs Davenport, .lones, Littlejohn, Crawley & Co.. X’eshit. Shuford Le- Master would do likewise. Why Endanger Your Life by carrying large sums of money on your person when modern business methods have made it possible for per* sons to possess large sums of money without jeopardising their lives ? The only safe place in which to keep money is in a bank, where they are prepared to protect it from burglars; where every precaution has been taken to prevent thisves from breaking in, but where, in the event that it should possibly be broken into, the depositor would lose nothing because of the burglar insurance carried against such a contingency. Such a Place is the National Bank of Gaffney. We have a Hibbard-Rodman-Ely Patent Manganese Mob and Burglar Proof Safe, which is locked by two Duplex Time and Combination Locks, which make it absolutely impossible for anyone to get into them. This is the place to keep your money. We are living in a modern age, where people do business different from the manner of our fathers. Deposit your money in our Bank and get a check book and pay it out whenever you want to. : National Bank of Gaffney, Gaffney, S. C. D. C. ROSS, President, J. A.
