On lust Thursday the j house of William Smith, another no | sro, was burned. William charged ' one of Gum's children with burning i is house and now William is in jail charged with burning Gum’s house. Evidently Gum has adopted the doc trine of retaliation. Wm. Smith, who " as chared with burning the house of Gum Ellis, was discharged Tuesday by the magls- irate at a pre iminary examination.
