Although the complexion of the new legislature with regard to what its attitude will be toward the dispensary issue is of first importance, as it will li.' sole!v with that body as to what changes "ill he made, still the speech making in tlie campaign has attract ed more attention to tho gubernato rial race and the principal interest in tlie election centers is the question of a choice of a governor. A number of systematic efforts are being put forth to gather complete lists of leg- islat'* - ^ candidates offering for elect ion in tile various counties on the different whiskey platforms represent ed b} the several gub' material candi dates, but no complete list is avail able vet. In the great majority of the comities tlie entries are still open i and in scarcely anv have the candi dates declared themselves fully. It is admitted on all sides in Co lumbia that in the beginning, official inllu mces were strongly for Manning, [of Sumter, and Senator Tillman, though he has done it guardedly, lias been throwing the weight of his sup- I port that way, in his speeches and j otherwise. There is a striking contrast between the veiling, hurrahing excit ed crowds of thousands of the “oue- gallused” he used to draw and elect rify and the apathetic, unresponsive handfuls that now gather to hear him. There is no more whooping up the boys as of yore. The boys won’t whoop a little bit. Senator Tillman is as forceful as he ever was and he is a much more attractive orator than i he used to he, his Washington expe rience having improved him wonder fully, hut while he semns to b 0 giv ing his subject the best he has in stock there is no popular demand for his “sermons.” He is not meeting a pooular demand. From what the correspondent of Tiie Evening Eosi was able to gather from interviews with the “one-gallus- | ed” along the way as he accompanied | Senator Tillman on his tour last week tue frame of mind of the aforesaid one-gallused seems to be something like this: Senator Tillman is con scientious and it is hut natural that | ho should exert himself to save his j baby, but it is evident that those fel-1 lows who have had charge of the j thing at Columbia have been stealing and palming off mean whiskey on us o make up for it. and it is useless to tulk of trusting them again. THE KINO OF BLOOD PURIFIERS SWIFT'S SPECIFIC, the great SLQOQ PURIFIER. tk."* k T r, “" v ' 'm r .e—sin:. No other remedy has given such perfect satisfaction as a blood purifier and tonic or is so reliable in the cure of blood dis eases of every character as S. S. S. It is known as “The King of Blood Purifiers,” and the secret of its success and its right to this title is because “IT CURES DISEASE,” It is an honest medicine, made entirely of purifying, healing roots, herbs and barks, which are acknowledged to be specifics for diseases arising from an impure or poisoned condition of the blood and possessing tonic properties that act gently and admirably in the up-building of a run down, weakened or disordered condition of the system. One of the greatest points in favor of S. S. S. is that it is the only blood remedy on tho market which does not contain a mineral ingredient of some kind to derange or damage the system. It is the one medicine that can be taken with absolute safety by the youngest child or tlie oldest member of the family, and persons who have allowed their systems to get in such condition that most medicines are repulsive to the stomach will find that S. S. S., while thorough, is gentle and pleasant in its action, and has none of the nauseating effects of the different mineral mixtures and concoctions offered as blood purifiers. As every part of the body is dependent on the blood for nourishment and strength, it Is necessary that this vital fluid be kept free from germs and poisons. So long as it remains uncontaminated we are fortified against dis ease, and health is assured; but any impurity, humor or poison acts injuriously on the sys tem and affects the general health. Pus tular eruptions, pimples, rashes and the different skin affections show that the blood is in a feverish and diseased condition as a result of too much acid or the presence of some irritating humor. Sores and Ulcers are the result of morbid, unhealthy matter in the blood, and Rheumatism, Catarrh, Scrofula, Contagious Blood Poison etc., are all deep-seated blood disorders that continue to grow worse as long as the poison remains. But all blood diseases are not acquired; some persons are bc-'i with an hereditary taint in the blood and we see this great affliction manifested in many ways. The skin has a waxy, pallid appearance, the eyes are often weak, glands of the neck" enlarged, and as the taint has been in the blood since birth the entire health is usually affected. In all blood troubles S. S. S. has proved itself a perfect remedy and has well earned the title of “KING OF BLOOD PURIFIERS.” It goes down into the circulation and removes all poisons, humors, waste or foreign matter, and makes this stream of life pure and liealth- v - ' Gentlemen:—S. It thoroughly cleanses the system of im purities, increases the appeGte, improves the digestion, and builds up the general health. I have given it to my ohiktren with fine results. It promptly restores the appe tite and clears the skin of all eruptions. It is a very fine blood tonic and has my hearty endorsement. 12-i S. 9th St., Lebanon, Pa. P. H.
