'll | Important Matters Relating to the Industry Discussed. Columbia. June 19-—There was a I meetinp here today of representa tives of the cotton oil mill Industry in the State. A South Carolina branch of the interstate cotton crush- I ers' association was organized. The attendance of cotton oil mill men was i very good and those who came here ] expressed themselves as much pleased | with the result of the session. A number of tonics were discussed. ! In view of the packing disclosures the cotton oil interests expect to push a campaign for the use of cotton oil !products for cooking purposes as against lard. The cotton oil people : think that all the people need is in formation and they will use cotton .oil i products more than they do now. A j committee on publicity was anpoint- I ed. The meeting decided to eather 1 and use for benefit of the members information as to seed bought, the | outlook for seed, etc. This informa- ; tion will be of considerable mutual : benefit to members of the organiza tion. Mr. C. Fitzsimmons brought to , the attention of the members recent publications and experiments to the use or Irish and sweet potatoes in the i manufacture of denatured alcohol. • The recent articles indicate that • sweet potatoes as well as Irish pota- I toes, both of which can be grown in ! this section, can be readily crushed | in the machinery at the cotton oil j mills and that the oil mills have the i machinery, space, organization, etc., for the manufacture of denatured al- i cohol and that there might be a large field for this work among the cotton j oil mills of the State. The officers ' elected today are: F. D. Hunter, Dar- lington, president. Mr. Hunter fs now general manager of the South Atlantic : Cotton Oil Co., the successors of the i Independent Cotton Oil Co. Don’t Allow ■■ .To Lie Aroond A Horrible Accident on the Streets of Charlotte. Charlotte, X. C.. June 19.—Mr. R. Z. Hewitt, a conductor on the Piedmont lin/- of the trolley system of the 4C’s. was killed under his car at the cor ner of East avenue and Mvers street a» ■4:4 r » o'clock yesterday afternoon, in one of tho most horrible accidents that has occurred in Charlotte in sev eral years. The car dragged the un fortunate man a distance of thirty yadrs. killing nim instantly and fright- fullv mangling his body. The car was on its trip out at the time of the accident There was no obstruction on the line and the car was running at a pretty rapid rate. As it wa« approaching the Myers street crossing a milk wagon belong ing to Moore’s dairy and driven by Mr Cy Reid, lurned direet'- act-s the track, starting into South Myers street. Mr. J. B. Trull, the motor- man. hurriedly rang his gong and reversed the car. But it was *00 late. The car, carried by its momentum, struck the wagon, knocking it sev eral yards and overturning it. The reverse finally stopped the car and started It backward. It was then that the conductor was killed. How he got on the ground and on the track is not known. There were two or three passengers in the car and sev eral persons on the street, but all were looking at the overturned wag on in front and no one saw Mr. Hew itt fall. There is nothing more distressing than an itching, ing skin disease, and npon the return of warm weather those who are afflicted with skin troubles find the symptoms appear ing and know that they will be tormented through the ho summer months. The blood is heated with humors and acrid matter, to the surface the skin seems to be on fire. The treatment of sk nal applications is all wrong, because they do not reach the trouble The most such treatment can be expected to do is, allay the itching ai up the trouble for awhile, but as soon as it is left off the disease retur All food taken into the body contains, in some form, the element! the different parts. One portion is used for the making of blood, another for muscle, one for bone, still another for fat, and soon. After these different properties are ex tracted from the food there still remains a portion that is useless, or waste matter, which is intended to be disposed of, through the natural channels of bodily waste, the Liver, Kidneys and Bowels. At this season of the year, however, these organs become torpid, dull and sluggish, and fail to perform this duty, and these accumulations remain in the system and are absorbed by the blood to ferment and sour, producing burning acids and acrid humors. The blood cannot properly nourish the system while in this impure condition, and begins to throw off these acids through the pores and glands of the skin, producing Acne, Eczema, Tetter, Psoriasis, Salt Rheum and skin diseases of every description. ECZEMA appears usually with a slight redness of the skin, followed by pustules from which there flows a sticky fluid that dries and forms a crust, and the itching is intense. It is generally on the back, breast, arms, legs and face, though other parts of the body may be afflicted. In TETTER the skin dries, cracks aud bleeds, and is often very painful. The acid in the blood dries up the natural oils of the skin, causing a dr}’, feverish, hardened condition and giving it a leathery appearance. ACNE makes its appearance on the face in the form of pimples and black-heads, and is particularly disagreeable because of its unsightly appear ance, while PSORIASIS, a scaly disease, comes in patches on different parts of the body. One of the worst forms of skin disease is SALT RHEUM. It discharges a watery fluid, form ing sores and producing intense itching. The head and face are the parts usually affected, and sometimes the liair falls out and a mass of sores forms on the scalp. These and all skin diseases are due to the same cause—burning acids and humors in the blood, and until this vital fluid is cleansed aud made pure they will continue. The best treatment for all skin diseases is S. S. S., a remedy that is purely vegetable, being made en tirely from roots, herbs and barks, and acts directly on the blood with a cleansing, healing effect. It neutralizes the acids and purifies the blood so that the skin, instead of being blistered and burned by the fiery fluids, is nourished by a supply of cooling, healthy blood. It goes down into the circulation and forces out every particle of waste or foreign matter, builds up the blood and cures all skin diseases promptly and permanently. S. S.
