Spring fever is considered a
joke—when some one else
has it—but the condition is in
reality no joke.' Spring fever
is one of those terms applied
to that general relaxed con
dition of the system which is
so common at this season. It
indicates, as a rule, a loss of
vitality and a disorded condi
tion of the blood. An effec
tive remedy should be prompt
ly used, because this condi
tion readily becomes chronic.
Our Motto
Iron Tonic
Is just the remedy needed.
It aids digestion, tones up the
nearvous system, purifies the
blood and increases vitality.
We are so sure that it will
give satisfaction in all cases
that we sell it under a posi
tive guarantee—your money
back if it fails. : : : : :

An Appeal for Our Park.
Editor Ledger:—I wish through The
Ledger to appeal to the aesthetic
side of our citv council. Why don’t
they clean off and keep In order our
prettv little park. Surely it would not
cost much and could be very easily
done by the street force under the ca
pable direction of Supervisor Coyle
ion Saturday afternoons. During May
or Gaffney’s administration it was
kept clean in ibis way. and last sea
son was a most delightful place for
the gathering of tired and hot citizens
to enjoy themselves in/the open air.
getting the benefit of,.-what little
breeze was passing. Kept in condi
tion, it was a spot that was good to
look upon, in its green freshness and
tidiness. Now it is overgrown with
weeds, wild onions and rank grass,
benches delapldated, and papers
strewn over the place, making a place
that is a shame to our up-to-date little
city.
It might be argued that the citv
has no money t© “waste” on keeping
UD 0 park. But it seems to me that
anyone seeing the pleasure, derived
from the park last season, by tired
mothers, who met there in social in
tercourse; by tired fathers, who gath
ered to smoke their “fragrant Havan
as” and rest from the day’s toll: by
th' young ladies and young njen. seek
ing the secluded seats, to tell the old,
old “story;” and best of all, to see
the sweet little children romping In
childish glee—I say it seems to me
no one would begrudge the mere pit
tance it would take to keep our park
] clean.
Let’s keep up our park and make it
a place of pride to the city: and with
| the beautiful park being made by our
big-hearted philanthropic Mr. Whqat,
Gaffnev might wvll be called the “city
of parks.” Lee
fit will be gratifying to “Lee” and
others Interested th know’ that
Bnperlntendent Coyle yesterday

After th© usual devotional exercts-

on the fact that there are so few

the students are so scarce. The com
mittee of churches and Christian edu

which recommended that the educa

the systematic benefience of the

for collections to be taken up In tho

It was recommended still further that
a part of these collections should go
