For a period of seven years a lead ing headquarters for fine groceries and nrovisions has been at the estab lishment conducted by Mr. A. S. Lip scomb. One reason for the popular ity of this place is from the fact that no inferior goods are handled. The firm's motto is, "The best is none too good for our patrons." Futhermore. he quotes prices for high grade goods lower than are often times charged at similar places for infe rior goods. He handles a full line of staple and fancy groceries, tobacco, cigars snuff, country produce, fine candies, fruits and nuts. This i 8 one of the pioneer houses doing business in Gaffney, which was founded eighteen years ago by Mr. T. Davenport. The store occupied cov ers over 7,000 square feet of space and the general appointments of the place are neat, and ♦’ell kept. The patrons are accorded a most prompt ani courteous treatment. He does both a wholesale and retail business, purchasing for cash, and is an exten sive dealer in light and heavy gro ceries. of which he aims to carrv only the best that the market produces. Specialty is made of flour, canned and bottled goods, condiments, candies, cigars, tobacco, tinware, etc. The best that money can buy in corn, oats, bran, hay, etc. Mr. Davenport wa* one of the first wardens of Gaff ney and is a public-spirited citizen. J. W. Tolleson is one of Gaffney’s most enterprising citizens and is interested in the welfare of Gaffney. The Dixie. But few of Gaffney’s enterprises have made greater progress in the same length of time than have the Lietlejohn Bros., proprietors of "The Dixie." The present style of firm has been in operation almost a year. Mr. Stephenson opened his place of business elecen months ago and he is a progressive, esteemed and public-spirited citizen. Shuford & LeMaster, On P of the best known business concerns of Gaffney is that of Shu ford & LeMaster. The firm is com posed of J. P. Shuford and R. E. Le Master. both young men who have spent a great portion of their lives at this place and in the same line of business as now engaged in. They commenced business together in 1901, with a full line of furniture, stoves and house furnishings, as well* as a full outfit of undertaking sup plies. Thev secured a location in the heart of the business center of the city, at 812 Limestone street. Their business has grown year by year until, although they havf, added to their wareroom capacity each year, they are taxed to find room for their goods.
