Another Man Commits Suicide While
in His Wife's Arms, and the Dead
Body of Still Another Suicide la Die-
covered in Lonely House.
Louisville, Ky., April 18.—An at
tempt by a husband to kill his wife,
followed by his suicide ana successful
efforts at self-destruction by two other
persons, were the features of Louis
ville s criminal record Tuesday.
Eliliu S. Thomas, a decorator, shot
his wife twice, and then turned the
weapon on hin •••If, dying instantly.
Mrs. Thomas, who, before her mar
riage, was the daughter of a w'ell-
known physician. Is paralyzed from the
waist down, as the result of her wound,
but has a small chance for recovery.
The wife's jealousy of her husband’s
attention to another woman Is alleged
to have been the cause of the tragedy.
While his wife’s arms were clasped
about him and she was endeavoring to
prevent the deed, Fred Diersing, a
dairyman, cm his own throat, dying
almost Instantly.
The dead bydy of L. E. Lindner was
found in a vacant house whither he
had gone to commit suicide.

Penniless Printer Left Fortune.
Middletown, O., April 18.—S. F.
! Coleman, a penniless printer, landed
; in this city from Nashville, Tenn., last

Charged with Pension Frauds.
Clyde, O., April IS.—Two United
Statse deputy marshals have arrested

Aldrich, a notary, and sou of Captain
Aldrich; H. G. Gibbs, a real estate
dealer, and prominent in politics; B.
F. Rogers, justice of the peace, and
Jesse H. J.ang, a notary of Oberlln, O.,
who Is over 80 years of age. It Is
declared that wholesale pension frauds
have been discovered.
Boy Gets Life Term.
Cleveland, O., April 15.—A life sen
tence in the pen awaits tjeorge Loest-
ner, aged 111, one of ttie three boy
burglars charged with robbing the
house of Herman Jacoby. The jury
in Judge Beaoom’s Court found him
guilty, and did not recommend mery.
A life term is the only penalty. In
Loestner’s room the police found a
pint jug of nitroglycerin, a can of dy
namite, seven revolvers and a set of
brass knucks.
While the damp, cold, changing weather of
Winter intensifies the pains and other disagreeable

migration to the United states from
all counties during March, 190C, accord
ing to a statement issued by the Immi-
graiton bureau was 133,245, or an in
crease of 70 per cent over March, 1904.
