unwell, we are glad to learn, is getting
along very well now.
We regret to learn that Miss Lois
McCluney, who is attending Linwood
l high school, is very ill. Her brother,

her last week. She is not able to be
brought home at this time and mav

The residents and visitors in Hoa-
dersonville are enjoying the mlldeet

kept at this place and not one of the
seven years shows anything like this
winter, in January the average was
about five degrees above the seven
year mean, and February is following
closely in January’s steps,
Messrs. R. H. Wheeler and J. R.
Anderson, representing a real estate
company of High Point, have **urchsed
from Mr. H. R. Cowles a tract of land
in East Statesville containing about
4i' fiicres. This company intends to
develop this property and sell it off
in lots on the installment plan. Streets
will be laid off, all the sidewalks will
be paved and only white people will
be allowed to purchase lots. This
company has developed property in
High Point and'Salisbury on the same
plan.
The South & Western Railwaj'a

ford ton Tuesday, from Poor’s Ford, by
order of Chief Engineer M. J. Caples,

One day week before last we took
