There was nothing doing in tha mayor’s court yesterday morning. Saturday ditto. Those usually fre quenting the city hall, come up miss ing these days. Perhaps Its too cold for the fun-makers to have a meeting and celebrate or perhaps its the te- suit of a reform. Any way when time for court comes these days, only the officers show up empty handed. Well and good. The mayor’s court. Is a very laudable institution and one not to be dispensed with, but all good citi zens rejoice when It has no cause to perform its functions. Not a case of importance has appeared upon the books of many moons, which shows how good we are becoming, as a town like Gaffney with the best police force in the State, never fails to get the sinful in her courts. The Prettiest Jesus. A precious little lady who belongs to a Presbyterian family and attends the Presbyterian Sunday school got off a bit of unconscious humor one day last week. Iti transpired that some oi her little neighbors who attend the Baptist Sunday school had left a Bap tist Sunday school card at her house on which was the oicture of the infant Christ. The child in question had se cured a card from her own Sunday school on which was also a picture of the infant Christ. Picking up the two cards she studied them for a moment and then looking up into her mothers’s face said in a most serious manner: "Mother, the Presbyterian Jesus is prettier than the Baptist Jesus, ain’t it?” t - Cheering Drinks A cup of Hot Soda is both soul warming and body warming.
