SHORT LOCALS.
Luke Corry, Gaffney’s crack hotel por*
ter, has retired from the hotel business,
and opened up a stock of fancy Groceries
on Meadow Street, in co-partnership with
his brother Dick.
Rev. B. W. N. Simms, of Waynesville,
N. C., brother of Dr. A, M. Simms, ac
cepted the pulpit at the First Baptist
church, both morning and evening. He
preached two splendid sermons to large
and appreciative congregations.
Mr. D. P. Sides, of the Gaffney Mfg_
Co., received a very painful injury Fri
day afternoon. He was passing around
some machinery in the mill when a piece
flew off, striking him in the face, knock
ing out one tooth and splitting his under
lip open. Dr. Darwin was called and by
taking a few stitches he soon made Mr.
Sides pre entable and at present,he seems
o be doing nicely.
