An Oyster Supper,
The members of the local order of
the Fraternal Union of America had
an oyster supper Saturday night at
the Commercial Hotel. The party
was composed of gentlemen entirely:
about half of the thirty-eight members
of the lodge being present, with a few
Invited guests.
The supper was merely In the na
ture of a social feature of the order,
and the gentleman present enjoyed
the Informal repast to the fullest ex
tent. They are also indebted to Mr.
Cal. Parish, the genial proprietor of
the hotel, for many courtesis extend
ed them during the evening. State
Organizer Laser was expected to at
tend the supper: but, for some reason,
he failed to come.
S. S. Class Entertains S. S. Class.
Mrs. A. M. Simms’ Sunday school
class, the Philathea class, entertained
J3r. W. C. Hamrick’s class of young
ladies from Limestone College on
Friday evening from 8:30 to 10 o’clock
The hospitable home was beautifully
and tastefully decorated in holly and
cedar, forming a beautiful and h ar ‘
monious background to the group of
gay young ladies. Misses Volina
Hamrick, Evelyn Sarratt and Winona
Phifer formed the receiving party.
Telegrams of original composition
sent from one to another made the
occasion very interesting and very
amusing. Delightful refreshments
were served, including a salad, ruit
and cake course.

The Conference Wanted.

of this city are making a determined
effort to secure the conference:
“An effort will be made to have
the Methodist conference meet here
next year. Several towns are after
