Cherokee county, S. C., varies the
peonage news by coming forward
-with a case in which a white boy is
the alleged victim.—Charlotte Ob
server.
This would be interesting if the
facts were correct. The only thing
white about the boy in peonage was
his teeth, eyeballs and his name—
Fitzhugh White.

Senator Tillman, of South Carolina,
is reported to have said that the peo
ple will have a chance at the dispen
sary at the next election. Unless the
Senator wishes to see his great moral
insitution wiped off the face of the
earth he should see to it that no such
thin is allowed.—Charlotte Observer.
The above paragraph was evidently
written by a man largely acquainted
with South Carolina affairs.
• • •
One day last week the Charlotte Ob
server contained a very interesting
news item about a Charlotte man at
Raleigh and illustrated the article
with a cut made from a kodak pic
ture of the young man which was
taken while the gay Lothario was at
tending the Raleigh fair and acting
as escort on horseback to President
Roosevelt. The Observer offers a
reward of a doughnut to the one who
i^veals the young gentleman’s iden
tity. We claim the reward. The
young gentleman in question came
down to Gaffney from Charlotte to
escape the jibes of his numerous
friends and spent a few days hunting.
The first letter of his name lies on
one side of I; he has a very suave
manner, is an excellent talker and
sports auburn hair—or is it the fel"
low who wrote the article who sports
auburn hair? Now come across, Red
Buck, and send us the doughnuts by
next train.

Cures
La Grippe
VJand Constipation
LA GRIPPE is the most
stealthy and dangerons dis
ease known to the medical
world. It commences its fatal
work in the first stages, and
when allowed to have perfect
control of the system, it is not
long until the body is racked
with pain and finally a multi
tude of other ills come in sight
and the person inflicted
throws hope aside and awaits
the final outcome. People so
afflicted who use Checkers can
easily banish La Grippe and re
gain their usual good health.
CONSTIPATION is the curse
of men and women. From
_ simple carelessness this slayer
■~H of life gets a hold on its victim
and slowly, but surely, tor-
tures him or her to death.
■ Why do we make this broad
■_ statement? Because medical
H science records the fact that
■ ■ nearly every incurable disease
^■g has its beginning in Consti-
U u P&tkra. One mammoth $1.00
■ ■ bottle of Checkers will relieve
—you, and two bottles will per-
B manently cure the most stub-
born case or the purchase
price will be refunded. Sam

I’m the Talk of the Clothing Trade
My 3ig Sale has created a great sensation in Cherokee County. Everybody has been talking about it for the past
ten days. Even the merchants of Gaffney are surprised at the great quantity of goods tha^ were sold during my ten
days sale. MY ENTIRE STOCK OF GOODS
MUST BE SOLD BEFORE DECEMBER 25TH.
In order to accomplish this, I have decided to continue selling at sale prices. You who have visited me during the
sale know that everything in the store was marked down lower than the lowest. Low PRICES GONE LOWER. You
will find me this week even cheaper than I was last week.
