FARMERS PLAN TO
HOLD THEIR COTTON
Will Pledgo Themselves Not to
Sell Fleecy Staple.
WANT 16 CENTS PER POUND
President of Southern Cotton Associa
tion Says that Over Half of the Crop
Has Been Sold and That Remainder
Is Worth More Money.
>|ew Orleans, Nov. L5.—-Following
Uie arrival of President Harvie Jor
dan, the Southern Ct>tton association
today perfected plans for the taking
off of the market of 3,000.000 bales of
cotton by means of a series of pledges
which the farmers will sign them
selves, stating their name and address
and the amount of cotton they will thus
hold.
The cotton held will not be sold for
less than 1-5 cents a pound.
A representative of the association
is to be sent into every one of th
817 col ton producing counties of th<
cotton belt at once.
When the pledges are signed they
will bo sent to the central office ol tii
association in Atlanta.
President Jordan says that half of
the crop has already been sold at an
average of 10 cents, and the spinners
must have all the remainder. He be
lieves that 15 cents per pound for the
remainder of the crop is a fair price,
and it will only average the spinners
cents while they have based a.;
their calculations on 14-cent cotton.

not expect to save any of Olark’s as
