The blood is fdled with poisons, and as it finds an outlet through the ulcer, the surround ing parts become diseased and the sore eats deeper into the tissues atid flesh and becomes a permanent trouble. Mr. ^arratt Urges Them to Rally and Organize. Gaffney, a. C., Oct. 30. 1905. V To the farmers of Cherokee county: We are unquestionably winning. It is the other fellow who is facing the stern, and untenable facts. Lis ten! It is the speculator an.l manu facture who are looking on the other side of the picture, and closely watch ing the cotton producer, sitting steady holding his cotton, and fixing the price. Let not true farmer, who has toiled so long and has had so little compensation for his toil, faltei. Friends, hold on, show your manhood, Let the world know that you, although you have not had an equal showing in the fight for the last forty years, are made of the truest and best ma terial That not only in war, but under circumstances as trying, you can be relied on, to the very last ditch. Now, if ever, is the time to assert your manhood, farmers, as a friend and fellow farmer, I say there never was a time when it was so necessary for you to he men. The grand old South expects every man to do his dutj. Will you falter in raising her from her lowly place to the balmy heights to which she so richly and deserving- ly belongs? I repeat, let not one faker, it is a common cause, identi cal interest. We have a common ene my. Listen! you men who have sold. Every bale held has enhanced tho pribe of every hale sold, therefore it you are prompted by a high motive and a generous spirit, you will noi sell any more than is absolutely necessary to get you out of the dis tressed condition in which you claim to be. Be not deceived by mislead ing statements; read between the lines, do not let men engaged in other pursuits, influence you directly against your interest. Think for yourselves. If 1 had space I would give you facts, bold and convincing, that would show you that the world needs every bale of cotton that is raised. Be not dismayed! The gin ners’ report, our enemies say, is false Who makes this report? I know only one reporter for the ginuers, and he is not a farmer, and could not be benefited in the least, by making a false report, and 1 do not believe it is false. Again, listen. They say the rise in the price of cotton Iasi week was due to the frost. Possibly to a very small extent, but the main and undisputed cause, is because you are holding your cotton and they, the speculators, say it is the frost, be cause they do not want you to know what you are doing. I want you to realize your power and know the weight of your influence. As stated above, I would, if I Imd the space, show you the increasel consumption of cotton and thereby show you the increased amount of raw material needed every year. I must desist this time for fear of trespassing on the patience of our editor. I shall close after I have most earnestly urged you, every one, to rally your people on our next meeting day to more thoroughly organize and increase your membership by join ing our forces. Don't be a coward, don’t lag, don’t let your neighbor stay away; come; show your Christian spirit by joining a common cause for a common interest, help in one of the grandest, noblest and most glorious fights that has ever been waged by any people under any circumstances.
