Nashville, Tenn., Oct. 18.—'Elder Tice Spear, a veteran minister of the Christian church is dead at his home in Peytonsburg, Ky., aged 101 years. He was the oldest Christian minister in Kentucky, and doubtless the oldest in the country. He was 101 years old on the 24th of last September, on which day he had intended 7) preach his farewell sermon, but was too fee ble to leave hi-; room. Elder Spear was a man of superior mental attain ments and was widely known. The Improvement in the Country Keeps Pace With New Orleans and Business Activity Proves that the Epidemic Is Over. New Orleans, Oct. 18.—With the end of the successful federal cam paign against the yellow fever neat at hand New Orleans is rapidly return ing to normal conditions and it only remains for the lifting of Wie remain ing quarantines to restore complete ly business activity. As it is, quarantines have been re laxed sufficiently or lifted entirely by enough communities to permit large numbers of country people to come here. Business houses are also man aging to get their men out into the country. The drummers are going first to the sections which have removed restrictions and from these sections will proceed to taeir respective ter ritories.
